Oak Brook — Parents with children attending Brook Forest had mixed reactions to the possibility of that school being closed and having its students moved to the junior high site.
“It would be fine with me; I would love it,” said Bushra Jawed, who has two children, third- and fourth-graders. “I think it would be easier to have everything at the same place.”
Sharon McGarry has children in kindergarten, third grade and fifth grade.
“Both are fine,” she said. “The schools aren’t that far away from each other, and both are really good schools.”
Mai Truong, a mother of three, doesn’t like the idea of a single campus at Butler Junior High. She has a third-grader at Brook Forest, a seventh-grader at Butler Junior High and a high school senior.
“This is like a small community here,” Truong said while standing outside of Brook Forest. “It’s nice to have the small kids by themselves. I live a block or two from here, but I don’t mind going farther, too. I also don’t like that the junior high is on York Road, and that is much busier than streets around here.”
