OAK BROOK — Stepped up traffic enforcement by the Oak Brook Police Department Dec. 17-Jan. 1 resulted in the issuance of 14 arrests and citations.

The Oak Brook department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization aimed at cracking down on impaired drivers and those not wearing seat belts.

The idea of the mobilization was to remind drivers that while wearing a seat belt costs nothing, not wearing one could cost someone the price of a ticket and an injury, or their life, it they are in an accident, Oak Brook police said. The same can be said of drinking and driving.

During the period, police officers wrote one ticket each for driving under the influence, suspended/revoked license, uninsured motorist, and warrant arrest, along with eight speeding citations and two miscellaneous citations, said Erica Huff of the Oak Brook Police Department.
