OAK BROOK — Fifth-graders at Brook Forest Elementary School spent three extra hours in the building afterschool Friday for a special reading program.

Reading, a variety of reading-related activities and a storyteller all were part of Fifth-Grade Reading Night.

“It’s just a way for us to focus on reading,” said Lisa Owen, Brook Forest’s assistant principal, who also is a fifth-grade teacher. “We do some fun activities, and the story teller is great. It’s a way to encourage reading while having fun with activities.”~.
