New director of
marketing named for Visitors Bureau

Brent Edwards has joined the staff of the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau as director of marketing.

Edwards most recently served as executive director for the Chicago North Suburbs Convention and Visitors Bureau. Prior to his position with the North Suburbs, Edwards served as the director of marketing for the Elgin Area CVB.

“We are thrilled and excited to have Brent a part of our team,” stated Skip Strittmatter, executive director for the DuPage CVB. “His talent and skill-set are a great match for the direction the CVB is heading.”

Edwards has been in the tourism industry for seven years and, in that time, has amassed state awards and achievements. Through his career, Edwards has been associated with winning Best E-Newsletter, Best Website Design, Best Advertisement, and most recent, Best Visitors Guide in Illinois. Edwards also created a statewide niche committee under the Illinois Council of Convention & Visitor Bureaus called Market Illinois. The committee allows marketing and public relations professionals to gather in an educational format to network, learn from speakers and peers, and attract travel writers to Illinois.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to market and promote such a great destination.” stated Edwards. “This region is packed with restaurants, attractions, history, accommodations, shopping, and more.

“It’s a wonderful tapestry of things to see, explore, and promote.”
