Jim Huff receives Civil Engineering Alumni
Achievement Award

Purdue’s School of Civil Engineering, with 11,000 alumni, has a proud history of producing a long line of men and women responsible for shaping where we live — from the towering buildings to the hidden infrastructure supporting our cities such as bridges, roads, water and wastewater facilities. To stand out in the crowd is no small feat. Jim Huff, of La Grange, was recognized on April 12 with the 2011 Purdue Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award for his engineering accomplishments. Huff is senior vice president of Huff & Huff, Inc., an environmental
consulting firm in Oak Brook.

Jim and his wife, Linda, graduated in 1970 from Purdue’s School of Chemical Engineering. Linda was the 1990 recipient of the Outstanding Chemical Engineering Award. Jim stayed on at Purdue after graduating and earned a master’s degree from the Environmental Engineering Department in the School of Civil Engineering.

After a day of talking to students and faculty, the highlight was the awards dinner, with Huff’s freshman roommate, a fraternity brother, three fellow graduate student classmates, a client, and his wife and son in attendance. This award, from one of the largest Civil Engineering programs, recognizes his career of innovative approaches and continuing contributions to the environmental engineering field.
