Kids and parents will have high-flying fun at Kite Fly Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Farmingdale Terrace Park, 415 Honey Locust Lane, Willowbrook. A longtime staff member of Willowbrook’s Recreation Department will be on hand to offer expert advice on kite flying for families who bring kites. He will give a kite to anyone who doesn’t bring one, while supplies last.
“It’s an opportunity for people from the community to get together and fly some kites and have some snacks,” said Kristin Violante, Willowbrook’s superintendent of parks and recreation. “We want to offer opportunities for people to recreate for free. It’s a good kickoff to our spring and summer season.”
The event also offers families a chance to explore the beautiful park, which has a basketball court, walking paths and a playground that is a particular favorite of children attending the annual kite fly.
Reservations are requested but not essential.
