It wasn’t the coldest Chicago winter on record — but don’t be fooled. The weather was still harsh on your skin. We went to the experts at Mario Tricoci Hair Salon and Day Spa for some tips on how to show your skin some love this spring.

For your face

Exfoliation eliminates dead skin while increasing circulation and helping to remove impurities. Consider it your key to a truly fresh face.

At home. From masks to creams, there are many options to fight the flakes. You can target dull and dry areas, improve skin tone, and more with an exfoliating mask. Or go the retinol route to speed cell regeneration and visibly diminish fine lines and wrinkles.

At the salon. Microdermabrasion is one of the most effective forms of exfoliation and many spas offer unique variations to soothe the skin in new ways. You can also try a chemical peel and/or collagen mask.

For your body

The right products and services not only make your skin glow — they also contribute to your physical and mental well-being.

At home. Pair a good body scrub with a deep moisturizing lotion for real results. You should see skin smoothing and texture improvement results rather quickly. Follow up the highly moisturizing lotion with a mild exfoliant to gently refine, nourish and soften skin.

At the spa. Try a three-pronged attack to get the most out of your visit.

1. A therapeutic massage will help promote total body wellness by waking up your senses, calming your mind, increasing circulation, loosening up stiff joints and melting stubborn knots.

2. Exfoliating services can remove dry winter skin and stimulate circulation and lymph flow to promote healthy skin growth. Top it off with a hydrating sugar and salt scrub, which exfoliates to a deeper level and helps skin better absorb moisturizers.

3. A touch of color with a body bronzer can conceal minor imperfections, even out skin tone and add wow factor to your favorite spring dress.
