The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital held its Share benefit luncheon and fashion show March 3 at the Ashton Place in Willowbrook.

More than 330 children and adults enjoyed the fashion show, silent auction and a grand raffle.

The Share program provides support, hope and healing to families experiencing grief, loss and challenges during and after pregnancy.

Michelle Annella, of La Grange, was celebrated as the Friends of Share 2012 Honoree. In 2003, she prematurely delivered twin daughters, Nicole and Gianna, at Good Samaritan Hospital. The infants spent 76 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Michelle made friends with many of the doctors and nurses who helped her get through the hardship.

“I spent countless hours talking with Pat and Peggy, nurses in the NICU, during the girls’ stay at Good Samaritan Hospital,” said Michelle.

Today, Gianna and Nicole are thriving 8-year-old girls.

Share committee members bring comfort and recognition to parents with difficulties during pregnancy. The program is entirely funded by charitable gifts, allowing families to receive counseling, grief literature and emotional support, including support from others who have lived through similar situations.

Good Samaritan Hospital is part of Advocate Health Care, a Top 10 health care system in the country for three consecutive years, according to Thomson Reuters.
