The seventh annual Hinsdale Cooks! Kitchen Walk will take place May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Five Hinsdale homes will open their doors allowing attendees a peek at local designer kitchens in a variety of styles.
Organizers have carefully selected homes with a variety of styles, from historic, older homes that have just redone their kitchens to new construction with all the bells and whistles.
“We really wanted to highlight the variety of homes we have in Hinsdale as well as help support and highlight the builders and designers,” said Sarah Zielke, who is co-chairing this year’s event along with Anna Fiascone and Kate Schuppan.
Each home will feature a food tasting or demonstration from a local restaurant, bakery or grocery. In addition, homes are decorated by florists and designers and will showcase a tablescape and floral decor.
And guests will be able to enjoy some impressive gardens as well.
“One of our homeowners is a master gardener. Her kitchen opens to a beautiful patio which is surrounded by an amazing garden,” said Zielke. “There’s really something for everyone to see and do this year.”
The date is purposefully chosen to coincide with the Mother’s Day holiday, making this a great opportunity for a girls’ outing.
All proceeds will benefit Hinsdale Historical Society and the preservation of the Zook home and studio located at Katherine Legge Memorial Park.
The Kitchen Walk begins at Immanuel Hall, 302 S. Grant St.
