Superhero gathering for Loyola oncology unit

Superheroes came out in full force for Loyola University Health System’s annual benefit, Spring into Action, on May 19. The superhero theme resonated with guests, who praised the courage and bravery of patients.
The Loyola Center for Health in Burr Ridge was transformed into a glittering hero headquarters. Attendees sipped on Kryptonite cocktails and struck heroic poses for photos while learning about Loyola’s internationally renowned cancer program.
Featured speaker Scott Hamilton, Olympic gold medalist, gave a heartfelt and inspiring talk about his struggles with cancer following an acclaimed career as a men’s figure skater.
A live auction raised funds to install a patient exercise room in the oncology treatment facility.
The event raised nearly $140,000 to renovate the hospital’s inpatient oncology treatment facility, which will have 39 private rooms, each fitted with a HEPA filtered air system to minimize infections as well as family suites where family members can relax and unwind in a more home-like setting.
