And then there were none.
District 2 DuPage County Board member Brien Sheahan this week became the latest to announce he will not pursue a new term in this year’s elections. The resignation, which takes effect Jan. 31, leaves no incumbents in the running for the newly redrawn district that stretches from the east side of Naperville to Lombard to Oak Brook.
Sheahan, an Elmhurst attorney and father of a toddler, cited family focus as his primary reason for stepping down after 10 years on the board. Eight newcomers remain on the primary ballot.
Pat O’Shea and Jeff Redick, the other two District 2 representatives on the board, announced last year that they would not seek re-election. O’Shea hopes to clinch the Republican nomination for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court bench in the March primary. Redick is turning his attention to serving on the Illinois Tollway board.
Also stepping down at the end of his term will be District 3 representative Michael McMahon of Hinsdale.
