This year’s Hinsdale Central prom is themed Dance Like It’s the End of the World. There is a formal dinner dance hosted by the school on Saturday, May 5 at Navy Pier’s Crystal Gardens, Post Prom will immediately follow when the seniors and their dates board the Spirit, for a skyline cruise on Lake Michigan.
With the support of Hinsdale Central and the community the Post Prom Committee, chaired by Diane Arnold, Maria O’Donnell and Linda Proudfoot, have raised $26,000 to date. These funds have been used to sponsor a sophisticated evening of fun and memories for the seniors. They will enjoy a safe, chaperoned and alcohol free post party event.
In keeping with the Hinsdale Central tradition, students attending the Post Prom will enjoy a beautiful midnight cruise and light buffet aboard the Spirit. There will be a DJ for more dancing and karaoke singing to favorite songs. Parent volunteer chaperones and the Hinsdale police will accompany the students on the boats and buses, transporting everyone safely back to Hinsdale in the early morning.
The 2012 fundraising goal of $30,000 is still attainable with the community’s help. These funds will be used to underwrite the Post Prom start-up costs for the Class of 2013 and the boat deposits for 2014 and 2015. To make a tax-deductible donation, make checks payable to HCHS Post Prom 2012 and mail it to Lisa Tweardy, Post Prom Treasurer, 14 Blodgett Ave., Clarendon Hills IL 60514.
