Oakbrook Terrace investigating hotel robbery

The Oakbrook Terrace Police Department is investigating an alleged robbery at one of the city’s hotels early Sunday morning.

According to police, a 52-year-old Florida man was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, 6 Trans Am Plaza, this weekend when he was allegedly robbed by a female masseuse.

Oakbrook Terrace Police Chief Wayne Holakovsky said the man ordered a legitimate massage from a website and police are seeking the suspects involved.

The victim ordered a massage off the website and a woman arrived at his hotel room at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.

After paying the woman $140, police said she attempted to head back to her car, claiming to have “forgotten something,” but the man prevented her from leaving the room, police said.

Police said the subject “took his money and proceeded to spray him with mace,” before leaving the hotel room.

Holakovsky said the woman left the room while the man recovered from the mace and she ran out of the hotel’s front door.

Holakovsky said a hotel manager saw the woman running and attempted to help her when she ran outside to a vehicle with a man waiting behind the wheel. Police said the man behind the wheel allegedly pointed a gun at the hotel manager before fleeing the scene with the woman.

“The hotel manager thought she was in trouble and wanted to assist her,” Holakovsky said. “It’s still under investigation right now. We want to get to the bottom of it to see what happened.”
