Updated: October 24, 2012 10:06PM

More Chicago-area banks have been robbed so far this year than in all of 2011.

A man wearing an Oakland Athletics cap robbed a Northlake bank on Tuesday, the third area bank robbery in two days and at least the 117th of the year. The FBI said 115 banks were robbed in 2011.

Two banks were robbed Monday, one on Chicago’s Southwest Side and another in Bridgeview.

The Chicago-area record for bank robberies in a year was 284 in 2006.
