OAK BROOK — The Oak Brook Park District is once again inviting aspiring young artists to design the cover of its Summer Camp & Aquatics Guide. The winning submission will be published on the front of the 2013 Camp & Aquatics Guide and the artist will win an Aquatic Splash Party for 20 guests at the Oak Brook Park District Family Aquatic Center.
Submissions should integrate the phrase 2013 Camp & Aquatics Guide as well as incorporate the park district’s website, www.obparks.org. A full submission packet, including rules, guidelines and a template, is available to download at www.obparks.org. Submissions will be accepted at the Oak Brook Park District Family Recreation Center, 1450 Forest Gate Road or electronically via jcannaday@obparks.org.
Designs will be judged on relevant content, color and composition. The winning design will be chosen by a park district panel and all submissions will be on display at the Family Recreation Center beginning Feb. 4.
All participants are invited to attend the Oak Brook Park District’s Dive In Movie presentation of “Despicable Me” at the Family Aquatic Center on Feb. 8 for free.
Any student in kindergarten through eighth grade may enter, but only Oak Brook residents are eligible to win. Entries must be produced and submitted by individual applicants and all submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 31. The winner will be chosen by Feb. 6.
The Oak Brook Park District introduced the contest for last year’s 50th anniversary celebration and received over 40 colorful and inspired masterpieces. Last year’s winner was fourth-grader Maggie Huber of Oak Brook.
“The contest was a huge success and it was such a wonderful way encourage creativity and bring art awareness to the children of our community, that we decided to make it an annual event,” said Jessica Cannaday, marketing manager for the Oak Brook Park District.
