Oak Brook accepting Athlete of the Year nominations

OAK BROOK
Nominations are being accepted for the annual Oak Brook Athlete of the Year awards.
The awards were initiated in 1974 by Oak Brook founder Paul Butler and have been presented annually since then to one girl and one boy who are Oak Brook residents are seniors in high school, and have lettered in an individual or team sport.
Athletic directors of public and private high schools serving Oak Brook residents submit the nominations.
Presidents of homeowners associations in the village will review the nominated athletes and will choose the winner in mid-May.
Athlete of the Year winners receive certificates of achievement and have their names engraved on a trophy that is on permanent display at the Oak Brook Park District’s Family Center. They also are recognized at the summer Taste of Oak Brook.
The 2012 winners were Tessa Bosman of Timothy Christian and Justin Katzovitz of Hinsdale Central.~.
