You can help the York Radio Club win the American Radio and Relay League National Field Day Contest on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 by stopping the York Commons park area adjacent to Fire Station 2.
York Radio Club is participating in a 24-hour emergency simulation from noon Saturday to noon Sunday.
To help amateur radio operators practice for an emergency situation, ham operators across the country will try to make as many contacts as possible with other operators using auxiliary power.
York Radio Club will have several stations set up demonstrating a variety of communication modes including Morse Code and Digital. YRC also will have a “Get on the Air” station so visitors can try their hand at hamming.
Contest points are awarded for the number of visitors to the site, so come out and help win the contest. Field Day offers an opportunity for community members to learn what can be done in an emergency situation when cell phones and radios and televisions are not operational.
Stop on by and say hello to the local hams or talk with hams from around the world. For more information, check out http://yorkradioclub.org/.
