Butler School District 53 has again been honored with the Bright Red Apple Award for academic achievement and performance.

The award places Butler District 53 schools among the most elite in the state.

The award, given by SchoolSearch, is based on five factors in evaluating schools:

Academic performance

Pupil/teacher ratio

Expenditure per pupil

Educational level of teachers

Average teacher salaries

District 53 officials note the district is continually in the top tier of all school districts in the state with the highest student test scores. In fact, District 53 is one of only 79 school districts in the state out of 868 honored with the Bright Red Apple Award.

SchoolSearch is an educational research and consulting firm that publishes rankings and comparative information about school systems to help relocating families and corporations.

Butler 53 serves the children of Oak Brook in two schools, Brook Forest Elementary School and Butler Junior High.
