Parents Coffee

Parents of incoming Hinsdale Central freshmen are invited to an informational coffee at 9 a.m. on May 3 in the Hinsdale Central Cafeteria Annex.

Principal Michael McGrory will available for questions, as will other representatives from the school and PTO. Tours of the building will be available after the coffee and sprit wear will be for sale.

Presidential
scholar

Griffin Johns, a graduating senior at Hinsdale Central has been named one of about 550 semifinalists in the 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from more than 3,300 candidates on the basis of superior achievements, leadership qualities, personal character and involvement in community and school activities.

Final selection of the scholars will be made by the Commission on Presidential Scholars and will be announced in May. The scholars will be invited to Washington, D.C. in June to participate in a recognition ceremony.

Organic food
fundraiser

Hinsdale Central parents and anyone in the community who appreciates organically-grown produce, can support healthier eating by buying assorted boxes of organic fruits and vegetables for less than retail prices. This Organic Food fundraiser is a joint venture between Hinsdale Central High School and the PTO. All purchases help raise money for participating Red Devils Clubs and the PTO philanthropic endeavors.

Customers can just go to www.hinsdalecentralpto.org to order online or to download an order form. Pick-ups are at the Hinsdale Central pool entrance and vary, based on timing of your order.Volunteers will load the fresh produce into your car.

Talent show
benefits many

The Hinsdale South High School’s Student Council hosted a variety show and gave the proceeds to various organizations within the community, including $500 to the Humanitarian Service Project’s Children’s Birthday Project, which provides a child ages 3-11 with a 20-25 pounds. Birthday Box containing six new books, four-eight new toys, school supplies, stuffed animals, one new game, various other gifts such as bubbles, card games, mini toys and a Party-in-a-Box filled with all the items necessary to have a party.
