Notre Dame School of Clarendon Hills was well represented at this year’s Illinois Junior Academy of Science state fair competition, which was held last weekend at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After receiving top awards at both the school and regional level, the five students competed against hundreds of other students representing 131 cities throughout Illinois.

The Notre Dame students who participated included Jack Dokhanchi, Charlie Wasz, Joshua Milnes, Madeline Rockouski and Jessica Bonaguro. The students were led by Notre Dame teacher Kathy Vierck, of Downers Grove.

According to the Junior Academy of Science, the goal is to encourage students with special ability and interest in science to go beyond the limits of the classroom in developing their own ideas and perhaps aiding them in their progress towards a career in science.
