Updated: November 8, 2012 9:00AM
OAK BROOK — The Butler Elementary District 53 Board invites community members to participate in the process to help select its next superintendent of schools. Superintendent Sandra Martin is retiring at the end of the 2012-13 school year.
Community members can participate in focus groups or an online survey. The information gleaned will be used by search firm BWP and Associates to develop a leadership profile, which will be presented to the School Board at its Sept. 27 meeting. Once approved by the board, the leadership profile will be used as a guide for selecting the new superintendent.
The focus group for parents and community members will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at Butler Junior High. Group participants will be asked to provide relevant information about the district and describe characteristics desired in the new superintendent.
No reservations are needed to attend the community focus group on Sept. 5. Other focus groups for staff, administrators, School Board members and the PTO will be held at separate times on Sept. 5 or Sept. 7. The focus groups will be conducted by Mark Friedman, Anne Noland and Philip Ehrhardt, representatives of BWP and Associates.
Those who are unable to attend one of the focus groups may take an online survey. The survey will be available on the District 53 website, www.butler53.com from Sept. 4 through Sept. 9. ~
