Bright A+ Award for Oak Brook District 53

OAKBROOK — Butler School District 53 again earned the Bright A+ Award for schools with the highest academic performance in Illinois.

Of 868 school districts in Illinois, only 59 were so honored. It puts District 53 among the top 5 percent of school districts in the state. The award is given by SchoolSearch, an educational research and consulting firm.

The award is determined by student scores on the 2011 School Report Card. In that report, 98.9 percent of students met or exceeded standards on the Illinois Student Achievement Test. While there are different students tested each year, those scores rose again in the most recent School Report Card with 99.4 percent of students meeting or exceeding state standards. Both the 2011 and 2012 Report Card data each recorded the highest scores in Butler history.

Not only are the numbers of students who met and exceeded standards increasing, but also trends show that more students are moving into the “exceeds” category than the “meets” category.
