CLARENDON HILLS — Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale middle schools split a pair of girls volleyball matches Feb. 28 at CHMS.
HMS was victorious in the eighth-grade match, 25-8, 11-25, 15-12; and the CHMS seventh-graders recorded a 25-12, 25-16 victory.
“We played more conservative and had more communication issues than we’ve ever had,” said CHMS coach Mike Piper. “We started slow, got it together a bit in the second game, but couldn’t finish it properly. HMS was definitely better than us today. They played great defense and played a more mistake-free game than we did.”
Piper said the CHMS seventh-grade team started tentatively, but played well after a slow start.
“The girls did a nice job communicating with one another and playing as a team,” he said. “We served well throughout both games. HMS also played well and made the girls work hard for a win.”
In boys matches at HMS, the host team won the eighth-grade competition, 25-17, 22-25, 15-7; and CHMS was the winner in the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 25-8.
